The theatre experience: Macbeth & Canterbury tales

Summer readings can become memorable thanks to cooperative acting. We had so much fun writing the storyboard, deciding the setting, identifying the props, creating the costumes and selecting the right music. We enjoyed choosing the main characters after an audition, learning our role by heart, rehearsing in groups several times before the performance in the school garden. 

What an experience! Some of us were fluent in English and natural actors, others were embarrassed and slow at learning, but supporting each other we all managed to act in front of the whole class  overcoming our fears. We have learnt so much in terms of public acting and of trusting each other. We have become more confident, responsible and creative. “Learning with joy, learning together” is our motto. We are grateful to our English teacher for such innovative proposal. What a good example of the Other School! 

Looking ahead, we are excited about the opening season at the Scala theatre with Verdi’s opera Macbeth and we shall further practice acting to become great story tellers.
